Bereavement & Organising a Loved One’s Belongings
Compassionate, practical support when you need it the most.
-
Losing someone you love is hard enough without having to face the difficult task of sorting though their belongings.
Every photograph, piece of clothing, book or familiar object can hold a memory. Deciding what to keep, what to pass on and what to let go of can feel impossible, particularly when you’re already coping with so much.
I understand that this is about far more than organising a home. It’s about memories, emotions and finding your own way forward.
I understand because I’ve been there.
Having lost both my mother and my husband in recent years, I know first-hand how difficult it can be to face a loved one’s possessions and make decisions about what happens to them.
I’ve also completed a Grief and Bereavement Counselling Diploma, achieving a distinction. This learning, alongside my own experience, has helped shape my compassionate and understanding approach.
How I can help
There is no set timescale and no pressure to do everything at once. Together, we can work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I can help you:
Sort through clothing, personal belongings and household possessions.
Identify and organise treasured keepsakes, photographs and sentimental items.
Separate important paperwork and organise documents.
Prepare items for family members, charity donations or other agreed destinations.
Organise belongings you wish to retain, making them easier to store and enjoy.
Gradually work through a room or an entire home, one step at a time.
You remain in control of every decision. Nothing is discarded or passed on without your agreement.
A little help when you need it the most.
You don’t have to face everything alone, and you don’t have to make every decision today.
My role is to offer practical help, patience and understanding, making an overwhelming task feel more manageable.
Whether you need help with one room, a few difficult cupboards or the belongings throughout a loved one’s home, I’m here to help without judgement or pressure.
If you feel ready to talk about how I could support you, I’d be happy to have a conversation.
Bereavement Decluttering Case Study
After my beloved Mum died suddenly in 2018, life changed in the blink of an eye.
Alongside the grief came the practical reality of clearing her home. With my sister living in Australia, the unenviable task fell to my late husband and I.
What followed was one of the most emotional experiences of my life, and one that would ultimately shape the work I do today.
